SUMMER RODEO……SHORT BUT SWEET

Results for the RVRCE Rodeo Extravaganza Summer Season got off to a rough start as the club had scheduled 5 Rodeo Events. The first two scheduled Rodeos were canceled due to the Equine Virus and the Wallow Fire. The kids of the Round Valley area would just not give up on their summer sport of Rodeo. The RVRCE Club had amazingly received 26 Buckles Donated from Local Rodeo Families in Memory of their family Cowboy or Cowgirl. The Buckles were awarded at the July 2nd Jr. Rodeo, with over 100 Cowboy and Cowgirls Competing for the 26 Buckles.

This was a tradition of the Round Valley area years ago, when the Marlen and Bonnie Rogers Fun Day started as a Rodeo for kids in their own back yard arena. Their daughters decided to it was time to bring back the tradition of sending 26 different kids home with buckles, this allowing the kids to only win one buckle of the day. ‘There is nothing like a look of a young cowboy or cowgirl winning their 1st Buckle”. Our Families hope that it will encourage these young cowboys and cowgirls to continue competing in the Sport of Rodeo like it did us. The results for the 3 events held during the summer were:

Here are the new posters reflecting the rest of the 2011 RVRCE season. The EVH-1 and the Wallow Fire have definitely put a dent into the Rodeo Season around here, but we are excited to have our July 2nd rodeo. We will be running it like our Memorial Day rodeo are going to be ran. Show up and win a buckle as there will be plenty to go around. If you need the poster to get bigger, click on it to download a PDF of the poster.

See you on the 2nd.

Surveys

Question 1 – Yes 10 – No 1 – Undecided 1

Make the SR or OPEN age group a 4D format.

Both Barrels and Poles. We feel this will open this age group up for many people that want to start competing for the first time or for people that want to run more that one horse. Cost will be 20.00 for Barrels 20.00 for Poles and the Club holds $5.00 per run.

Question 2 – Yes 10 – No 0 – Undecided 2

Possible adding BreakAway and Team Roping

Pee Wee and Junior age groups. We have some ropers that are about ready to compete.

Question 3 – Yes 11 – No 0 – Undecided 1

Age Group adjustments.

Have you noticed that there are about 6-7 in the Peewees and 18-20 in the Juniors. Next year most of the pee wee will go to Jrs. making that age group 24-25 and only 2 moving on to Srs. and only 3 moving from Lil Squirts to Pee Wees. The age groups will really be off balance. Leaving Lil Buckaroos 6, PeeWees 5-6, Jrs 24-26. We have been thinking on a couple of ideas because at Award time only 5 out of that 26 receive an award and we like to spread around the prizes as much as possible being the Family Novice Club that we are. So what about:

5 and under Lil Squirts Lead only. 6-8 PeeWees, 9-11 Jrs. , 12-14 Srs. and open 4D

Question 4 – Yes 8 – No 2 – Undecided 2

Working Membership VS. Regular Membership

Working membership means: You pay the regular 50.00 a family/25.00 single – but you work helping at the events-setting up Lil Squirt Event running it, setting up Barrels, Poles, changing Goats, etc.(scheduled ahead of time)

Regular membership means: You pay 100.00 a family/50.00 single-and you don’t have to do anything just show up and compete.

Question 5 – Yes 10 – No 0 – Undecided 2

Live Stream

Wes is able to Live Stream the Jackpots and Rodeos over the internet for your family and friends to view. Do you like this feature and want it to continue? What would you like different? O.K. as is?

Question 6 – Yes 10 – No 1 – Undecided 1

Non-Members

Non members may compete with a $10.00 per scheduled event Charge.

Question 7 - Yes 10 – No 1 – Undecided 1

Memorial Day Rodeo “Marlen Rogers Fun Day”

A memorial day event where buckles are donated for each event in memory of someone. The people are usually people that have contributed to back yard and youth rodeo in the past.

Results? What does it all mean? It appears from the survey results that the majority of your are happy with the way that things are happening. We thank you for your support and will continue to try and provide a fun and enjoyable rodeo experience for everyone in the season to come.

Hopefully you’ve all had a great 2010 Rodeo Season with the RVRCE this year. The Presidency would like to thank those who worked hard in supporting all our events this year, the Flower/Gift Fund Raiser, the Yard Sale and the Computer Sale thanks Wes, T.E.P. T.O.E. Gymnastics and Cowboy Up Feeds. Without these Fund Raisers we would not have Great Year end Prizes.

Our Memorial Day Rodeo and Eagar Daze Extravaganza Foot Rodeo were successful and we appreciate those members who helped in organizing and helping run those events. It is amazing to us watching the next generation of Cowboys and Cowgirls excel and grow in what some call a dying breed. That is what this club is all about, giving families a chance to Rodeo that might not have the opportunity otherwise.

Our year end Rodeo and Awards are fast approaching. We want you to have this Information ahead of time:
Week of SEPTEMBER 4th: Enter online
SEPTEMBER 4TH PAY FEES 8:30-9:30 at Arena
SEPTEMBER 4th RODEO STARTS 10:00 a.m.
SEPTEMBER 4th AWARDS/EATS Follows the Rodeo (give us 30 minutes Blue Bldg)) SEPTEMBER 4th DUMMY ROPING in Blue Bldg	(right after the Rodeo)

So there is no confusion, members will only be allowed to win 1 Buckle this year. This spreads around the Buckles………….you can only wear one at a time anyway! We have purchased over 4,000.00 in prizes and we want to spread the wealth around as much as possible.
We will have a suggestion box at the Banquet for a few changes we will be considering for next year and would like your input.

We are asking members to help with “EATS”
A-L DESSERTS and M-Z Chips and Dips
Please drop off at the Concession Stand for your convenience

Check out the Web site at www.wonderfulwesterns.com . Be sure to let family and friends know that they can tune in to our live stream if they can’t make it to the rodeo in person.

See ya’ll at the arena,

Jennifer Lund – President, RV Rodeo Club Extravaganza
